Microbial analysis of a composted product of marine animal resources and isolation of bacteria antagonistic to a plant pathogen from the compost.

چکیده
A composting product of marine animal resources has been used as a fertilizer and a soil conditioner in Japan. This compost was produced by a repeated fed-batch fermentation system with three successive aerobic bioreactors. Composting temperature reached about 75 degrees C without heating. The bacterial diversity in this compost was investigated by denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis (DGGE) and sequence determination of the V3 region in the 16S rRNA genes. The sequence analysis showed that a majority of retrieved sequences corresponded to those of Bacillaceae, and we frequently found sequences similar to the 16S rDNA sequences of Bacillus thermocloacae and Bacillus thermoamylovorans. In addition, a bacterium antagonistic to a Fusarium strain was isolated from the compost. The isolate (Bacillus sp. NP-1) produced an antifungal compound, iturin A. These results suggest that this compost serves as a valuable source of plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria including the antifungal bacteria.

Isolation and morphological study of ecologically-important insect “Hermetia illucens” collected from Roorkee compost plant
Certain species of Hermetia illucens, also known as the Black Soldier Fly(BSF), were found in a compost plant in Roorkee located in Northern India. Its larvae arevoracious eaters of organic waste, hence can play an ecologically-important role in solidwaste management. Morphological analysis of various stages of BSF life cycle by SEMshowed that its body along with its wings is densely covered wi...

متن کاملIsolation and screening of antibacterial and enzyme producing marine actinobacteria to approach probiotics against some pathogenic vibrios in shrimp Litopenaeus vannamei
The application of new probiotics is a good strategy in the biological control of infectious diseases in aquaculture. Approximately 100 marine actinobacteria isolates were obtained from 10 sediment samples of shrimp farms. Heat treatment of sediment samples resulted in a selective reduction of the non actinobacterial heterotrophic microflora. Starch nitrate agar medium exhibited more efficacy t...
متن کاملComparison of Different Pot Mixtures Containing Perlite on Growth and Morphological Characteristics of Pothos (Scindapsus aureum L.)
To Select an appropriate medium for the growth of plant is one of the problems of most greenhouse owners in production of pot ornamentals. So, current research was conducted to evaluate effect of some available media in mixtured by perlite on the growth of pothos. Study was based on a completely randomized design with 5 treatments, 8 measuring times and 6 replications in a fiberglass greenhouse...
متن کاملScreening and evaluation of indigenous bacteria from the Persian Gulf as a probiotic and biocontrol agent against Vibrio harveyi in Litopenaeus vannamei post larvae
Isolation of autochthonous bacteria from marine sources as a potential probiont in biocontroling against pathogenic Vibrio species in the shrimp culture industry was the aim of current research. A total of 198 bacterial strains were isolated from pond water, sediment, hepatopancreas and gut samples of shrimps after culturing the samples on Tryptic Soy Agar and incubated at 30 °C for 24-48 h. Th...
